Alan in Control

Welcome to the Newsletter area of our web site. Select the latest issue from the Newsletter menu in the left hand panel to bring you news about what is going on in and around the area covered by our Sailing Association. It includes what is happening or will happen in our immediate area which may be of interest to us as sailors. To help this happen, some input is needed from you, the members, in the form of articles, photographs and ideas. Anything will be welcome, not only tales of disasters and sinkings (!) but an account of how a particular outing went exactly as planned and was really pleasurable. A separate section gives news and reports of socials and visits we are planning or have held. We are trying to enjoy ourselves after all!

Links to newspaper articles of general interest will also be found below.

On Saturday 8th May 2010 SAMM members and guests were well represented at a Music Night in the Lodosol Bar & Restaurant, San Pedro del Pinatar. Smithy played a wide selection of hits from the last 50 years (give or take a few) and got us on the dance floor and Alan, the proprietor laid on a finger buffet - all at an amazing price. We'll be back on 29th May for more entertainment with Showaddywaddy Legend. sm20

On Saturday 16th May 2009 by kind invitation of the World Ship Society Costa Blanca Branch a group of members were able to visit the Spanish Navy Arsenal in Cartagena. Pedro, our guide, briefed us on the history of the base as we toured the original 18th century ship building docks, the submarine base, the minesweeper docks. We also saw the Spanish Navy's two Antarctic survey vessels that had recently returned to the base.
